Seafood with high mercury content- can damage the nervous system and even be dangerous for a growing fetus. Seafood with high mercury content includes- tuna, shark, marlin, mackerel and swordfish. Salmon is a great substitute and allows you to get your omegas and protein. 3. Artificial sweeteners- this can be tricky to identify because most foods carry aspartame which is an artificial sweetener. So, how do you know if there is artificial sweetener in your food? Well it's safe to say any food labeled sugar free contains aspartame. Make sure to read labels and avoid sugar as much as possible. 4. Foods with high pesticides- research has linked fruits and veggies with high pesticides directly to infertility. Some fruits & vegetables known for high pesticide are- spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, cherries and pears. The best thing you can do is purchase organic foods! Fruits & vegetable low in pesticides include- avocado, pineapple, asparagus, mangoes, broccoli, eggplant and cauliflower 5. BPA bottles and canned drinks- According to researchers at Harvard University, BPA interrupts the reproductive process in humans. Therefore, BPA exposure was found to contribute to 20% of unexplained infertility. You will want to avoid these BPA products- plastic food containers, plastic sports bottles, deli containers, plastic bags, plastic dinner plates, canned food, canned drinks All in all when conceiving do your best to treat your body like the birth giving temple that it is, be patient with yourself and consume nourishing items that you would want your future baby to have.
