Reciting Om Mani Padme Hum

Some say chanting Om Mani Padme Hum will be one of the most important practices of your life. Om Mani Padme Hum helps you create more happiness for yourself as well as for all sentient beings on the planet. It is the mantra for compassion and joy.

So let's break it down:

Om- is the Universal sound

Mani- means jewel or bead

Padme- the lotus flower

Hum- represents the spirit of enlightenment

One of our favorite translations of Om Mani Padme Hum is "May the intellect of the mind reside in the heart."

Combining all these words together helps us invoke the essence of Buddha and turns our bodies, our mouths, our beings into something as virtuous as Buddha himself. It is the root where we receive all benefits of life, all happiness, all attainment. They say if you chant this all of your wishes will come true and that it is a powerful protection against negativity.

Where do I begin?

There is no right or wrong to how and where you choose to begin your chanting.

-If you have a regular meditation and/or yoga practice try adding this in at the end of it.

- Do you meditate using mala beads? Count one mala bead for every chant you do and start with ten a day.

-Or try using this mantra on a meditation walk and see how it keeps you present and awake during your walk.

If you don't have a rigid practice yet, graciously use this mantra throughout your day to help you move with more freedom, happiness, and a deeper sense of wellbeing. So why not give it a try?

...Let's us know in the comments how it worked for you!
