Winter Tips

You may have been feeling it already-the days get darker earlier as we head into the shortest, coldest days of the year. It’s time to go deeply inside; to meditate, as well as recalibrate. Find out how the patterns in your life are working, or not working, and make those changes inside. Slow down, write more, get caught up and organized and prepare yourself for next year. Eat some raw garlic and ginger to prepare you for the changing weather, food, and holiday stresses. Make time to play with friends and celebrate with family.

Look through drawers and choose to either break out the old decorations or throw away the junk. Take a break from using the sprinklers. Paint or make some holiday gifts like bath salts, home sprays, beaded necklaces, and lavender eye pillows. Wrap your presents in the comic section of the newspaper, use recycled paper bags with bows, and paint your own cards or gifts.
Eat lots of greens, black sesame seeds, and black or wild rice to keep the kidneys nourished. Enjoy miso soups and orange vegetables such as yams or carrots. It also may be a time to have some wild salmon or organic chicken soup if your body is feeling it.

My 2008 mantra was Celebrate to Elevate; in 2009, it will be to Align with the Divine. It is time that we refine and allow our greatness to shine through. You are me and I am you. We are all already family. May we illuminate shadows, and make peace with our enemies. May we love ourselves and each other even more. May we be more of what we came here for.

Pay attention, respond, and enjoy.

“Presence is the real present.”

HAPPY HOLY DAYS!
