Sedona’s raw Spirit festival

sedonaThe whirlwind of the last month since Korea has been an incredible experience. I am glad to finally have this moment to catch up on my blog.

Upon returning to America after Korea we went to the evolutionary Raw Spirit Fest in Sedona. The full moon over the vortex of red rocks was enchanting and inspiring! The food was delicious and the people were bright wondrous lights of health and beauty.

It was an honor to be a MC (master of ceremonies) and to personally introduce some of my very favorite artists, such as Shimshai, Donna Delory, Singing Bear and the Jah Levi.

My daughter was swept up in the arms of a very safe fire dancer (of course we were nearby, all watching mesmerized), while my mother taught and rawked her message to the people.

I taught an hour-long meditation in a geometric dome and yoga classes on the green lawn. It was literally raw, grass roots and fun.

I teamed up and joined in on a play for the Sunfood Warrior Protein powder company and got to read about superheroes on the main stage along with a mini yoga demonstration.

There was also some time that had to be filed between acts, so we found ourselves rapping, chanting and singing on stage, which was a ton of fun for me to be living out of my own box. Alex sang the chorus to the song I wrote and I rapped it out.:) The song is called, Freedom song.

Elevate Film festival

Elevate-Festival-Green-Carpet-interviewThis was the third time I have made it to what is a groundbreaking series of films and filmmakers making movies to “ELEVATE”. Everyone participated, from Shiva Rea, to Michael Beckwith and Apple from the black Eyed peas.

We were moved to tears by the heart-warming films that people wrote from the depths of their souls. One man named Chris, began a long walk to the country of Brazil. By going beyond his beliefs and limitations, he is hoping to inspire the same in anyone who tunes in to his trek.

Elevate – Keep them coming and I hope to always be a part of what you are doing.

oct_21This week’s hot tips…

1. Let your feet touch solid ground, without shoes… either the grass, or sand or mud.. It’s very grounding.

2. Get in the water while you still can. the sea is mineralizing and invigorating. If you are not new to the ocean, put Epson or even some sea salts in the bath…

3.It’s October and still Pumpkin month! Carve your pumpkin in a creative way that you have never before seen. Soak the pumpkin seeds. They contain most of the B vitamins, along with C, D, E, and K. They also have the minerals calcium, potassium, niacin, and phosphorous. Pumpkin seeds have mainly been used to treat prostate and bladder problems, but they have also been known to help with depression and learning disabilities.

4. It’s the month where we start to go inside and even naturally contract. Give back things you have borrowed and organize your desks.

5.Use an air purifier in the house and pump essential oils in the air like Eucalyptus to help support the lungs.

Hot weekly tips! As we enter the fall, we enter the season of letting go, giving back things we’ve become attached to, and nurturing ourselves. It’s a good time of year to donate to goodwill, to volunteer your time cooking at the homeless shelter, or organize accounting for taxes.:)

Things that support this are eating pumpkin soup and apples, using ginger and cinnamon (which are warming) in our food, and taking good lavender oil baths to keep the sinuses open and the bacteria down.

Happy October and preparing for you and your families alter egos…

Alternatives to Halloween goodies- Fruit leather… Sugar free/natural lollipops/organic and dairy free chocolates/toys and fun prizes… Like a mini puzzle or stickers and of course a wildly decorated house.

Blessings… :) rainbeau mars

Sept 30, 2008:

Day 1

Rainbeau Mars Harmony Festival Photo

We arrived in the tree filled, mountainous place of Seoul, Korea yesterday after an interesting flight. The airlines seemed much more focused on us shopping than sleeping at 3:00 in the morning. We were on the red eye, my preferred way to travel, but never the less they were kind and the experience new and that is always interesting. There is no at&t phone services by the way, so know that most likely your international phone will not work here, but for me it was all the more reason to completely take in the country and “BE HERE NOW!”

I love to take a solo day of unraveling and slowly adjusting with restoratives and grounding back down into the earth after all those hours on a plane. I do a mask, take a bath and read a good book.

Later today we will go to the adidas store to shop before we meet with Violet (an incredible Combat teacher out of NYC) and Niki (my point person/boss at Global Sports Marketing adidas). You can feel the energy beginning to build and it is exciting.

I will spend the morning, drinking juices, doing the sauna and meditating to prepare for what’s about to come. These are the supportive ways in which I stay calm in the midst of all the excitement around the event and even me.

Here we are having lunch at a traditional Korean Restaurant and I was in heaven.

I always ask for help that I am the clearest and the most connected and that I do the best job that I have ever done before and then allow…Whatever to happen to happen, being open, willing, present and as strong as I know how to be

Day 2

brazil adidas

I am wiped out, but satisfied… I just finished Day one Monday the teachers training. Its Monday September 1st in the states and at the end of Monday here…

The teachers/students were as incredible as the last time that I met many of them in Shanghai. Now I have time to go in depth with them. They already knew and had been practicing and even teaching the beginners DVD that I put out and were moving in such synchronicity and dedication that it was a rich experience, just to witness. I found myself, humbled and moved to delight at the feeling of how beautiful it is to watch something that I allowed to come through me to come to life was such a positive and beautifully visual sight. I am grateful.

* I am about to have dinner now with Alex and Niki at the hotel Chinese restaurant and then take one more sauna.

In China it was the noodle soup I could not stop eating. In Korea it’s the baths and the sauna that I am addicted to. I’ll take another soak before bed… :) I am having a hard time staying away from there. I even went in during lunch today.

Day 3

Another wonderful day of teachers training. We finished with a group dinner and went to bed both empty and full..Nastalgia…:)

Day 4

brazil adidas

Early today we woke up to prepare for the big event, where all the teachers of the different arts come together. I did lots of press and had a celebratory dinner with the whole team when it was over.

THE AFTERMATH…. September 4th…day 5? Who knows, it does become a blur…:) The way home.

What can I say…  I LOVE KOREA!!! I love the people, I love the clothes, I love the press, I loved the classes, I love the food, I love the baths, I loved the experience.

I was very impressed by the sophistication and simple quality of life that I was exposed to there.

I arrived home and felt exhausted. I napped throughout the day and was so excited to see my daughter and my father and we walked to the neighborhood, organic pizza joint.

…It took me days to return to normal and I did…  just in time to get on a plane to Sedona Arizona to MC and teach Yoga at the Raw Spirit Festival…  which was mind blowing and the most magical festival ever..:) it only keeps growing and unfolding better and better, all ways….

Coming soon…  Raw Spirit Fest. Bless…

July 31, 2008: Harmony Festival 2008

There is so much happening right now, that I have had a hard time keeping up with this blog. Let me give a quick download.

  1. We had such an incredible time hanging out at Harmony Festival. I had the opportunity to sing and do spoken word while Paula Coles band was doing sound check, got to introduce and dance on the stage with Damian Marley and Arrested Development and just be a part of an incredible music festival. We had an ecstatic time chilling as I hosted the “ambiotic lounge”, where I got to introduce Alex Grey, a revolutionary artist and we danced to the hypnotic rhythm of one of my favorite Sufi artists, Sukhawat Ali Khan Band.I led a guided meditation in the morning sunshine and did what I love to do most, which is center myself, by leading others to do the same at the Eco Village.

    Rainbeau Mars Harmony Festival Photo

Most importantly, we saw right before our eyes, the gathering of thousands and thousands of people as they came together to dance, sing, play and be 1 in Harmony, (my middle name if you did not know), and got to be a part of huge life transformational festival. Here is my right hand and associate Alex Westmore (it was her birthday), who I could not do it without.  We are basking in the glow of the days events.

We got to ask questions, rap out, and participate in prayers with Goddess Alchemy, Astarius and Soul Eye.

We are intending to post up footage from the highlights of this great event soon, so please check back.

  2. My daughter Jade and I share a birthday week and we had a great week of celebrations. We got hugged by Ammachi the hugging saint and played with David Wolffe and friends up in Topanga.
  3. We also threw a birthday party for my daughter with music, a slip and slide, and a kiddie pool. Jade’s dad had quite the time, being the hose, a constant part of the water amusement. YAY!
  4. The kids loved the raw and vegan Strawberry cake, even though they had a cooked organic choice they could not tell the difference and gobbled it all up.Her best friends are Sofia (Donna Delory’s daughter), Safiyah (Rocky Duwani’s daughter), and Liv, (Craig Cameron Olsen’s daughter) , so needless to say, the adults had some good live music to listen to and get immersed in.  We really enjoyed ourselves.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as I am!

Give Thanks and Praises,

Rainbeau

Thank you to everyone who helped in the participation of these events. Alex, Carlo, Kammallajah, Rick and all our friends.

I am in the Houston Airport Lounge, on my way back from Brazil, headed home to Los Angeles. My trip to Sao Paulo was truly inspiring in every way and I will carry the people of that city with me forever.

The first event that we did was in the Unique Garden, which was a very special place. We had a press conference where I taught a yoga class to some very fun and enthusiastic members of the press from all over South America. I also got to spend some time meditating with three other lovely yoga teachers from the surrounding areas: Xiomara from Columbia, Ana Paola from Mexico and Lilly Hastings from Brazil.

It was a true pleasure to feel the inspiration of the Brazilian canopy that is connected to the world’s treasured Amazonian forests. It holds a very special place in my heart and memory. But this time, I would say that the Unique Gardens is a perfect blend of esthetic quality and nature. If left up to me, I would have spent even more time there, meeting and meditating away on the possibility of deep relaxation amongst the fresh air and be autiful landscape.

brazil adidasAfter the gardens, we went to a site visit, which was in a huge warehouse converted into a beautiful, modern space for the 3,000 attendees at the next day’s convention. The convention center was inside what would be the equivalent of New York City’s Central Park.

Here, I am smiling below one of the many quotes they had of mine (translated into Portuguese). I think this one says, “Play a sport without opponents, where you break your own records…Play Yoga.”

Teaching a 1,000 plus class, and having so many focused people in one room, was an experience like no other. It was an experience like no other, to have so many focused people all in one room. Although it was hard to get to everyone, I definitely felt them all and hope that they all felt me. I had 15 assistants walking around, making sure that all our yoga friends were staying in alignment. Everyone had on a special bamboo adidas yoga shirt with a “Play Yoga” logo and my silhouette.

We brought our “Play Yoga spirit” to the heart of the city for a 15,000 person concert. We went directly from the convention, without even time to get into a dress. But I didn’t mind; I just shook it on stage in the awesome adidas Techfit line. It’s form fitting and flattering, and the Powerweb made me feel confident enough to dance in front of all those people and amongst the dolled up Brazilian beauties.

I am now a huge fan of Jorge Beng Jor who surprised me with an onstage introduction. I felt electrified as I sweat and felt the energy of the heart and of the Sao Paulo Samba.

I am in Sao Paulo, Brazil, settling in for an action packed weekend. It feels great to be here, and they are taking really good care of me. They seem to go the extra distance with everything they do.

I’m finally looking at the pictures from the fitness academy I did in Shanghai, China. I’ve included some of my favorites.

It’s time that I start logging my daily experiences, because although I think that I’ll clearly remember them, they become a little less clear as time goes by.

I am on a plane right now heading to Brazil via Houston. I’m going there to teach thousands of people yoga. All of the yoga “gurus” will be joining me and I will be sharing everything I have to share.

All of our lives are a true gift and as we are slowly or quickly leaving our bodies, we may as well lengthen the moment by being completely in awe of the “present” that is right before us…
